HORSEFERRY ROAD

WESTMINSTER

The Kalyvides Partnership forms part of the winning team selected by the Home Office for the PFI competition to provide office and residential facilities at Marsham Street.  This is a major scheme which adjoins the Palace of Westminster and provides approximately 1 million sq ft of development incorporating two new public squares. In addition to working on the master plan for the whole site, The Kalyvides Partnership has been appointed to develop and implement 18,580sqm (200,000sqft) of residential accommodation in addition to 2,790sqm (30,000sqft) of retail space New Palace Place. The development is divided into three buildings with the central structure set back to create an open public space. The central building has three finger components clad in terracotta and glass with a linear stitching together the composition. The flanking buildings are more rational and robust recreating the street building line and defining the edges of the new open space.  At the upper levels the curtain walling extends past the building line as cantilevers and offers a more modelled form.  The redevelopment will also re-establish important strategic views of the Palace of Westminster and contribute to the network of routes and linkages to the surrounding neighbourhood. New Palace Place won the Westminster Society Award for its contribution towards the enhancement of the built environment in the City of Westminster.
