WHITE HART LANE
TOTTENHAM
The master plan covers 12 hectares of existing run down leisure facilities including a derelict sports arena with pavilion stand, two football pitches, a rugby pitch, Astro Turf training pitch and two tennis courts. The master plan re-provides seven full size football pitches with a pavilion stand to accommodate over 2000 spectators with associated reception foyer, concession facilities, male and female changing rooms, function rooms, fitness club and WC facilities. To the west the master plan includes an Evangelical Church of 2,800 sqm gross area with 339 lower ground dedicated car parking spaces. The facility will include a three level entrance foyer, auditorium seating for over 4,000, a stage, prayer rooms, dressing rooms, kitchen facilities, printing rooms, a recording studio for televised events, choir stands, café coffee bars, meeting rooms, and a restaurant.
The form of the Church transfigures in scale from the street to within the site. The auditorium is expressed and animated with a configured skylight illuminating the central stage area. The entrance foyer includes the ‘hung’ restaurant at upper levels accessed via a matrix of bridge connections enjoying views to the north-east. The form extends into the landscape with the ancillary accommodation terminating with the tower to the east acting as a local landmark. The form is configured with solids and voids interlocking and geometrically organised to express clarity of form and function.
