HIGH HOLBORN

CAMDEN

The site is situated on the south side of High Holborn with a linear frontage to High Holborn and aspect to the north to Lincoln ’s Inn Fields. The existing building has been demolished in preparation for the replacement by a new modern office facility of 2,100 sq m (22,500 sq ft) on ground plus eight floors.  The urban site adjoins the conservation area at Lincoln Inn Fields. The building frame consists of structural steel columns and beams with and external skin of metal glass and brickwork.

The composition of the building introduces a light infill relief between two solid neighbouring structures. The High Holborn façade is composed of alternating frameless and horizontally capped curtain walling systems which transfigure in reducing scales from three to single levels as the development extends higher.  The rear and flank facades face directly onto Lincoln’s Inn Fields and are clad in 50mm quarter bonded brickwork with metal lined windows expressed predominantly as ‘hole in wall’ to respect the masonry surrounding grade 1 listed buildings.
