ROCHESTER PLACE

CAMDEN

The development is mixed use within the heart of Camden Town and includes car parking at basement level, offices at ground and first floors with 15 apartments on the second and third  levels providing a development area of 4,320sqm (46,500sqft). The structural frame is concrete with in situ slabs and rainscreen cladding forming the external skin. The frame module is organised to maintain open flexible space at the ground and first levels and allow for regular car parking at basement level, also merging into the party wall construction at upper residential floors.

The design aesthetic is metal and glass which reflects the industrial heritage of the site. The building components are a series of interlocking elements with individual expression. The offices are organised within cassette channel frames and project into the street building lines. The residential portion is expressed with ribbed metal cladding and punched ‘hole in wall’ fenestration lined in flat metal panels. To the rear the form cascades to the more modelled and domestic scale to the north west. A geometric and organised ‘tower’ clad in clear, translucent and opaque glass is located at the corner of Rochester Place and Rochester Mews and forms a focus from Camden Road.
