SKY MOTOR CITY
CYPRUS
The Motor City development adjoining Larnaca International Airport will create the new home for motor sports in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean. The built form development area is 15,200sqm (163,828 sqft). In addition to the motor sports facilities the development includes retail areas, food and beverage outlets, service centres, accommodation and a light industrial space creating a hub for motor sport and technology in Cyprus. The track is designed to international standards, spanning 2.35km in length and 12m in width to achieve grade 3 standard. The circuit includes a main pit lane with modern facilities capable of holding up to 23 teams with 3 technical bays. The drifting track is incorporated into one of the main circuit permutations providing an 850m long facility. The Karting circuit, 800m in length, is to Category C standard.
The development includes a Pit building with a large Paddock area behind which will cater for international events. Above the garages are the race control and administration areas with a viewing deck to accommodate 300 spectators.
The development plan includes a technology park, brand centres, a petrol station, a hotel, and parking and camping zones. At the centre of the scheme is the piazza with multifunctional space surrounded by cafes and restaurants with views to the circuit, offering a civic space for concerts and national events. The architectural forms are expressive and directional in response to the master plan constraints and opportunities.
